California is one of the popular states in the country for estheticians and skin care opportunities, with all of these Hollywood movies, TV and Theater industry, being an expert esthetcian in California is a big step you can do in you career, you never know you could end up having famous stars as a loyal clients doing some skin care routine and wax with you. but in order to provide skin care services in the state of California you should get you esthetician license from the State Board
California Esthetician License Requirements
- Being at least 17 years old
- Having completed the 10th grade
- Completing 600 hours of training at an approved beauty school
- Passing the State Board examinations
Application Process:
The application process ic CA for skin care license comes after having all the requirements and finishing the 600 hours of approved training in the field
- First you need to fill out the Esthetician Application for Examination and submit it
- Apply online here
- Include an initial license fee of $115, non-refundable
- Your school must submit a Proof of Training document to the Board
For your information, the California State Board uses nictesting.org for both written and practical examination, the written exam will have 100 questions that you need to answer in 120 minutes time period, for more details about the written and skills based exam read here. Otherwise the practical exam takes 90 minutes, Also note that both exams written and practical can be taken in the same day if you don’t have any pending training hours with your school
Finally once you passe your tests, you will be licensed as a California esthetician
Esthetician License Rewnewal
As most of the other states in the country, CA esthetician license is valid for 2 years from the date of getting licensed, and you need to renew it every two years to keep practicing any skin care services in the state, you can do so through the California automated system that usually takes 7 to 8 weeks, or online through BreEZe wich is pretty quicker (only 15 to 20 days), for any related fees check the next section of this article
